By the River Piedra (I Sat Down and Wept)

Sunny Side Up

Cavinti, Laguna (Sep 2004)

Well, I haven’t really sat down by the River Piedra and I haven’t really wept beside it. Something like that happened, though. It may be too sensitive to talk about. All I can say is that it involves credibility, some money, and um, a lawsuit.

Was not able to start my work last Monday due to conspiratorial events that led to me firing myself from my third job right before it even started. I’m not even considering to list that in my employment history.

But God is good and he has given me Job #4 (er, #3) to start with on Monday. I hope everything’s gonna work out smoothly because I have already invested too much of myself to get this job. Hint: I stripped naked during the physical examination. That should be reason enough for me to get hired, I guess.

Programming for Dummies Beginners

msdn_masthead_ltr.gifFor those of you who wish to learn programming the fun and easy way, Microsoft recently came up with its Beginner Developer Learning Center. If you’ve always dreamed of being a code warrior but don’t know where to start, this is a perfect place to do so. Happy coding!

Last Week

end.jpgThis is the beginning of my last week at my current job. Ho-hum, all I’m gonna do is review for my next job. This could have been more enjoyable had I received my last salary. Right now, I’m practically penniless, relying only on “blood money” (and from proceeds of the sale of my “baby gadgets”).

New Job

jedi.jpgI’ll be moving to a new job location and of course, a new employer by the end of the month.

I’ll be returning to my roots as a VB.Net developer which is a far cry from the data warehousing stuff which I’ve been doing here in my current job. Ho-hum, I shall surely miss this place and everything it used to stand for.

I only have three words for my friends and colleagues whom I’ll be leaving behind. In homage to General MacArthur: “I shall return”.

Trillian

trillian_logos.pngOur YM has been blocked by the corporate firewall. Good thing we have Trillian, which acts as a chat client for Yahoo, MSN, ICQ, AIM and IRC networks.

Although it’s not as robust as Yahoo! Messenger itself, basic features like invisible mode, offline messages, and smileys/emoticons are intact, and of course, it does not have to go through the proxy server.
